Sem Coleira and ProtectionPro: the first two MGAs

Two books trading on the same infrastructure — and what building each one taught us.

Tegia’s first two MGAs are live. They are very different niches, with customers, sales cycles and risk profiles that look nothing alike — which is exactly why they are a good test of the platform.

Sem Coleira · pet wellness

Sem Coleira is a pet health and wellness MGA running combined D2C and B2B strategies. It is a low-ticket, high-recurrence book with many small claims — the kind of operation that only works if issuance, billing and first notice of loss are fully digital.

The lesson here was about product: in pet, frequency of use is part of the value proposition, not a problem. Cover has to be designed to encourage the preventive visit, because that is what removes the expensive claim later.

ProtectionPro · auto

ProtectionPro is a digital auto book with proprietary pricing and affinity distribution. Higher volume, higher ticket, loss ratio far more sensitive to price — operationally the opposite of pet.

Here the lesson was about data: in auto, the difference between a good book and a bad one is how many variables you can enrich before you quote. The pricing model has to be revisited on short cycles, with real loss experience arriving week by week.

Two opposite niches, one infrastructure. That is what the platform had to prove — and it did.

What they share

Neither had to build a policy system, negotiate capacity from scratch, stand up compliance or assemble a distribution channel. All of that already existed at Tegia. What each founder brought was the part you cannot buy: a defined appetite, technical discipline and a network.

It is the same arrangement we offer the next ones: aviation, D&O and embedded channels are in preparation.
