Tegia is live: why we built it
The gap we found in the Brazilian market, what Tegia does about it, and where we intend to be in five years.
Brazil’s insurance market has plenty of technical talent and very little infrastructure available to the people who want to use it on their own. Underwriters with twenty years in a single line know exactly which book they would write — and they stop at the same place: capacity, technology, compliance, distribution and start-up capital.
Assembling all of that alone takes years and demands skills that are not an underwriter’s. The outcome is predictable: underserved niches stay underserved, and books with good technical margin never come into existence.
What Tegia does
Tegia assembles that infrastructure once and makes it available to every MGA it builds or brings onboard. Four layers, always the same:
- Talent — proven underwriters and operators who lead the program as partners.
- Technology & AI — API-first policy administration, with AI running submission triage and document extraction.
- Distribution — access to more than 10,000 brokers and connectivity to multiple platforms.
- Capacity — carrier and reinsurer relationships built over decades, in Brazil and abroad.
Our mission is simple: remove everything that stands between a good underwriter and the book they know how to write.
Two ways in
We build new MGAs from our pipeline of underwriters — and we bring onboard MGAs and books already trading that need capacity, technology and governance to scale. In both cases, whoever builds the book holds ownership from day one, with no capital of their own at risk.
Where we are going
Our vision is to be the platform where Brazil’s specialist MGAs are born and grow: one disciplined central structure, several specialist books, each run by someone who knows their niche better than the market does. Two MGAs already trade on that base. Three more are preparing. The next one could be yours.
